My project for week 1 was actually demanded by my husband. A while ago I had crochet a frog for him. And he wanted a new one. A great source for finding free crochet patterns in abundance is Crochet Pattern Central. I picked the following pattern, written by Michelle: Keroppi Amigurumi Frog.
The frog turned out be quite huge. My husband says that he looks too cute when he is beside the piglet I made some time ago, so the frog stays on the couch and is not taken to the office by my husband.
And here is a picture of him:
He is made of 100% cotton yarn (brand: Puppets) with which I used a 3,5 crochet hook.
What I hate most about Amigurumi is the sewing together of the individual parts. Same goes for this frog. Most crocheters do not like sewing in loose threads, I hate assembly. This is definitely a weakness I need some improvement with.
